Portrait of Dominic Monnet

Hi, I'm Dominic. Over the past four and a half years, I have built extensive teaching and tutoring experience through both established educational organisations and private tuition. Supporting students through competitive academic environments and high-pressure application processes has given me a strong understanding of the intellectual and personal challenges applicants often face, as well as the importance of clear, thoughtful guidance throughout the process.

After receiving an offer to study History at University of Oxford, I decided to expand my tutoring into Oxford History admissions preparation. I study Ancient and Modern History at Exeter College, Oxford, where I achieved a First-Class Distinction in my First Year Preliminary Examinations. During my second year, I also served as the undergraduate History Admissions Officer, working closely with senior faculty and gaining detailed insight into the Oxford admissions process and what tutors are really looking for in applicants.

This experience has given me a clear understanding of how successful candidates distinguish themselves, not simply through academic achievement, but through intellectual curiosity, analytical precision, and confidence in discussing historical ideas.

I offer tailored support for prospective Oxford History and History (Ancient and Modern) applicants, including:

  • Guidance on the new personal statement format
  • Interview preparation
  • Discussion of historical sources and arguments
  • Advice on presenting academic interests with clarity, confidence, and originality
  • Support for both UK and international applicants navigating the Oxford application process

Alongside rigorous academic preparation, I aim to provide a supportive and approachable environment that helps students feel more confident and enjoy the process rather than becoming overwhelmed by it.
